Social Media Marketing – Ping A Tweet From Bing
On April 27, 2022 by adminSo the word games are starting. Microsoft are working on improvements to Bing and one of the latest may be a boon to Social Media Marketing gurus. Imagine bookmarking a link directly from the search results, that’s Bing’s plan – and what have they called it? – Bing and Ping, of course. I wonder if that will get turned around to social requests to friends. I can imagine getting a message asking me to Ping a Bing result.
Will it help social media marketing? In truth, every social tool has the potential to be a big help. What concerns me is the fact you can bookmark without having seen the page, or more importantly, visited the page. Just a small issue, however, our aim is to get visitors to the site, not just to the search results.
The up side – if used properly, a user can enter a search query and see three or four results that appeal to them. By bookmarking a couple for later reference could be a big bonus. It will take a little education of users to get them into that mode of thinking.
At present, the philosophy seems to be more along the lines of instant messaging. “I am going to lunch and here is where I am eating” followed by a link to that site. I would place it more in the gimmick basket until it becomes a popular tool.
When it comes to social media marketing, there are far more productive ways to interact with the general public than by Pinging a Bing – or is that Binging and Pinging, um, Ping and Bing? I am off to lunch, and I’m NOT telling you where I am eating – I need some peace.
